PROJECTS

past, present and ongoing

Denim Sunset (April 2022)

The beauty of imperfection

Crafted from discarded denim jeans and cotton calico, ‘denim sunset’ is inspired by the vibrant colours of the sunset and the ancient Japanese art of kintsugi. This kimono stands as both a statement and symbol of the beauty that can be found in imperfection.

Excess Threads (may 2024)

The cost of overproduction

Crafted from waste yarns and thread, my ’excess threads’ coat serves as both a statement and a reflection of our current fashion landscape. Wearable art, transforming what would otherwise be discarded into something beautiful and purposeful. Each stitch telling a story of excess, urging us to reconsider our consumption habits and recognise the value in what we often overlook. Through this creation, I aim to provoke thought and inspire conversations about sustainability and responsibility in fashion.

Plastic Paradox (may 2024)

Our polluted planet

Crafted from heat-pressed fragments of carrier bags, plastic packaging and cassette tape ‘plastic paradox’ symbolises both the convenience and tragedy of our reliance on plastic, reflecting on how these materials have become intertwined with our daily lives. My intention is to provoke thought and inspire action, urging viewers to confront the harsh reality of plastic pollution and its far-reaching effects on our planet. Together, we can unravel this paradox and seek solutions for a cleaner, more sustainable future.

Denim Dilemma (may 2024)

Conscious consumption

Crafted from repurposed pieces of unwanted denim jeans, ‘denim dilemma’ embodies the potential for transformation and the beauty of second chances. It is a statement about the urgent need for conscious consumerism and sustainable practices. By shedding light on the consequences of our consumption habits, I invite viewers to reflect on their own choices and explore alternatives that honour both our planet and our style..
